What certification is issued after training?

All Gator CPR training is through the American Heart Association (AHA) or the Health & Safety Institute (HSI).

How long is my certification good for?

Your CPR Certification is good for two years

When will I receive my AHA card?

Certifications are typically mailed, or are available for pick up, within two week upon course completion.

What is your refund policy?

GatorCPR does not offer refunds if your scheduled training date has past, but allows you to reschedule your session or transfer your training to someone else at no additional cost. If prior to your scheduled training, GatorCPR will offer a full refund.

Is my registration/ticket transferrable?

Your ticket is transferrable up to 24 hours before your class.

You will need to contact GatorCPR immediately to make this name and address change. A refund will not be given and you will need to coordinate payment with the person you are transferring your ticket to.

Can I update my registration information?

Yes. It is important that your information is correct, as the information that you provide will be used to create your certification cards. If this information is wrong, the cost to reprint will be at the cost to the attendee.

The name on the confirmation doesn't match the attendee. Is that okay?

To avoid confusion, please contact us to update your registration to make sure your ticket matches the attendee.

What are my transport/parking options getting to the training?

Classes are held at either of LifeSouth Community Blood

Center’s two Gainesville locations: 1.) 4039 Newberry Road or

2.) 1221 13th Street. Parking is free. If you have to travel by bus there is a bus stop in front of each LifeSouth location for vour convenience. Signs will direct you to the location of the classes.

Do l have to bring my confirmation to the event?

Bringing your emailed confirmation will avoid any confusion so please try and bring this. If you forget, this is not a problem, as we can register you with a valid ID.

What do I need to bring the day of my training?

A smile. Something to drink. Your confirmation. Lunch if you are staying all day for the training. If you took an online course, please bring a print out of your online course certification of completion.

Detailed Course Descriptions

Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Provider:

This course is either classroom-based. instructor-led or online in three parts: Part 1 online, plus an in-person skills practice and testing session (Parts 2 and 3) that teaches the following skills

  • Key changes in basic life support, reflecting the new science from the 2010 American Heart Association Guidelines for CPR and Emergency Cardiovascular Care (ECC)
  • Critical concepts of high-quality CPR

. The American Heart Association Chain of Survival

  • 1-Rescuer CPR and AED for adult. child and infant
  • 2-Rescuer CPR and AED for adult, child and infant
  • Differences between adult, child and infant rescue techniques
  • Bag-mask techniques for adult, child and infant
  • Rescue breathing for adult, child and infant
  • Relief of choking for adult, child and infant
  • CPR with an advanced airway*

* This is an introduction to the compression/ventilation rate and ratio for a patient who has an advanced airwav in place. For more information on advanced airways, please refer to the Airway Management Course.

A multiple choice exam is given and requires a passing grade.

 

CPR/AED:

This course is either classroom-based, instructor-led or online in three parts: Part 1 online, plus an in-person skills practice and testing session (Parts 2 and 3) that teaches Adult CPR and AED Use, with optional modules in Child CPR and AED use and Infant

CPR, including child and infant choking.

 

First Aid:

This course is either classroom-based. instructor-led or online in three parts: Part 1 online, plus an in-person skills practice and testing session (Parts 2 and 3) that teaches first aid basics and medical, injury & environmental emergencies.

 

Pediatric First Aid and CPR/AED:

This classroom-based, Instructor-led course teaches child care providers and others to respond to and manage illnesses and iniuries in a child or infant in the first few minutes until professional help arrives. It covers the four steps of first aid and first aid skills such as finding the problem, stopping bleeding, bandaging and using an Epinephrine pen, as well as child CPR AED, infant CPR and optional modules in adult CPR AED, child mask, infant mask and Asthma Care Training for Child Care Providers.

Primary Audience for Courses

Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Provider:

For healthcare professionals who need to know how to perform CPR, as well as other lifesaving skills, in a wide variety of in-hospital and out-of- hospital settings.

CPR/AED and First Aid:

For anyone with limited or no medical training who needs a course completion card in first aid and/or

CPR AED to meet job, regulatory or other requirements.

Pediatric First Aid and CPR/AED:

The primary audience for this course is childcare providers, child/daycare workers, parents/grandparents, nannies & babysitters. This course is also appropriate for educators, teachers and the general public.
